People & careers

Jumbuck’s sheep stations are where the majority of staff are employed. Sheep stations require permanent and temporary workers throughout the year to assist with shearing, lamb marking and crutching, so there are often positions available for staff on these stations, especially in January, April/May and August. Mustering is conducted on motorbikes. While any agricultural/stock experience is a bonus, Jumbuck will provide training for new starters and offer traineeships to enthusiastic and committed people who are first employed and are eligible. Travellers on working holiday visas looking for the ultimate Australian outback experience are welcome to apply for temporary roles on sheep stations.

Jumbuck’s cattle stations operate only in the dry season. The stock camps are put together in February for the season running from March/April through to December and while most staff are re-employed from year to year, occasionally positions are available for new permanent staff with excellent horse riding skills who can commit for the full season. Mustering is conducted on horseback.

On all of Jumbuck’s stations you can expect single accommodation, high quality meals, great company and training. Some stations have air conditioned accommodation and many stations will require camping out on stock camps for weeks and sometimes months at a time, so a love of the outdoors and a good swag is a must!
