Blina Station was purchased into the Jumbuck Pastoral Group in early 1991 when it was purchased from the Western Australian Cattle Company. It is made up of three leases, those being Ellendale and Calwynyardah and the eastern half of Kimberley Downs. The homestead is located 150kms East of Derby at “Blina” in the Kimberley region of Western Australia. Most of the pastoral lease lies between the Great Northern Highway and the Gibb River Road to the North.

The Blina Manager, Matt Wood, also is responsible for the running of cattle and waters on the Eastern side of Kimberley Downs.

The Station runs approximately 20,000 head of Brahman and Brahman /Shorthorn Cross cattle. The average annual rainfall is about 26 inches and daily temperature during the dry season is about 30 degrees, warming up to the early forties during the wet.

Traditionally, the stockcamp is put together in early April, with mustering commencing as soon as it is dry enough to get vehicles around. Mustering continues through the dry season and usually wraps up in October.

When the cattle work is complete, the work programme focuses on maintenance and improvements, fencing, yard building and the like, all of which have had to be put aside for mustering. Robinson R22 helicopters are predominantly used to put the cattle together when mustering, aided by stockmen on the ground mounted on horseback.

Fitzroy Crossing is the closest township, but most supplies and post comes from Derby. The Fitzroy Crossing Rodeo and Campdraft is traditionally the first break the staff have from the mustering programme and is always well attended in the first week of July. Additionally, those who are socially inclined may have opportunities to experience the Halls Creek Rodeo and Races, Kununnurra Rodeo, Derby and Broome Rodeos. Additionally, barbeques are a frequent event at the homestead.
