McCoys Well is a 651 square kilometre Station located 30km west of Yunta in the North East Pastoral region of South Australia. The homestead is located approxiamely 15km north off the Barrier Highway (Adelaide to Broken Hill road).

The original McCoys Well leases was purchased in 1970 by H.G.MacLachlan from the Hawer family, (North Bungaree). Two more leases Meadow Downs and Whyngoon were purchased in 1985 and 1986 respectively to complete the Station as it is today.

McCoys Well is managed by Graeme Barry who is married to Janette, and they have three sons James, Matthew and Daniel. Graeme formerly managed Lake Everard Station in the Gawler Ranges for several years.

Stock work in the form of mustering or droving is completed primarily with motorbikes, but horses are used also from time to time. Shearing, crutching and lamb marking make up the busiest times in the calender year. Other skills required by staff are the maintenance of windmills, bores, vehicles and fencing.

McCoys Well with its subtle mix of saltbush, bluebush, annual herbage and grases is outstanding country for growing merinos, aswell as being aesthetically pleasing. Around 340 bales of Wool are harvested on an annual basis with 3000 to 3500 surplus sheep sold every year either through the Jamestown sale yard, private sale or via CALM.

The Yunta races is a well attended social event run every year in the month of May. Events include both racing and gymkhana novelties such as bending and barrel races for those keen on their horses. Other local events include the Carrieton Camp Draft and Carrieton Rodeo, with the regional town of Peterborough being only 50km away providing a range of services.
