Mt Victor Plumbago Station is 2000 square kilometre Station located 75 km north of Yunta in the north east pastoral zone of South Australia.
Mt Victor Station was originally purchased by H.G.MacLachlan in 1971 simultaneously with Glenorchy Station from the Hawker and McGregor families respectively. In 1996 Four Brothers and Morialpa were purchased from the Sandland family, and in 2004 Plumbago Station from the Crawford family to complete the aggregation.
Fully stocked the Station shears 32,000 head of polled merinos in August/September every year.
The property Manager is Harry Palmer who lives at Mt Victor with his wife Bronwyn.
Stockwork in the form of mustering and droving is completed primarily using motorbikes, but horses are used periodically also. Mustering of sheep for crutching, lamb marking and shearing, make-up the three busiest times of the year for stock work. Cattle are mustered on motorbikes or horses twice a year for marking and branding calves, sale of steers and dry cows.
The Yunta races are always an attraction for those into racing horses or gymkhana events such as bending and barrel races. The Yunta races are run in May every year and are always a good social day out. The Broken Hill Ag Fair is also a well attended event offering everything from agricultural machinery, to showing animals and sheepdog yard trials.
